Reliable as always

This is my third year using Sqlbak, and they continue to be consistently reliable. I originally started with their free tier for a single SQL Server instance, then upgraded to a paid plan for more servers and cloud storage options. This time, I added an Azure SQL database to my existing setup, and integrating it was just as smooth as my previous experiences. The backup monitoring and email alerts have always been spot on. It's why I keep coming back.

Decent service, minor quibbles

I used Sqlbak for automating backups of my PostgreSQL databases to OneDrive. The setup was mostly easy, and the scheduled backups have been very reliable. The centralized dashboard is helpful for keeping an eye on things. My only slight complaint is that navigating some of the more advanced configuration options for specific database types felt a little less intuitive than the initial setup. It's a solid service though, and good value for money, but they could improve the user experience for deeper dives into settings.

Great value for annual plan

I needed a solution for multiple SQL Server backups and was looking for the best price. I opted for the annual Professional plan, which gave a good discount over monthly billing. The process was quick. Felt like I got a really good deal for what it offers.

So easy to use

Sqlbak is amazing! I was looking for a MySQL backup service that just worked, and this is it. Setting up my first backup to Google Drive was so simple. Everything is so well laid out. I will definitely be using them again, and telling all my colleagues about this!

Good for database backups

Needed to set up some SQL Server backups for work. Found Sqlbak, signed up for their Professional plan. It was pretty easy to get going. The web interface is clean. My backups are running now, pushing to Dropbox. Seemed like a good deal overall.

Comprehensive backup solution

I signed up for the Professional plan to manage backups for a few SQL Server instances and a couple of PostgreSQL databases. The ordering process was straightforward on their website. It took about 15 minutes to set up the agents on all servers and configure the first set of backup jobs to Amazon S3. I tested the point-in-time recovery feature for one of the SQL Server databases, and it worked as expected, restoring to a specific timestamp accurately. The web dashboard is intuitive for monitoring all backups across different database types. I had a quick question about configuring transaction log backups for a specific SQL Server edition, and their support team responded within a few hours via email with clear instructions. The quality of the service seems robust for automated database backups.

Does Sqlbak have a free tier that's actually useful, or is it just a demo?

L Linda E. 2 weeks ago
It's a full free tier for one server. Like, I've been using it for my home lab for ages and it works perfectly. You get all the main features, just limited to one instance.

Yep, can confirm. It's not a trial, it's a permanent free plan for a single server. Pretty sweet deal if you just need to back up one important database without paying anything.

How secure is Sqlbak for sensitive data? I'm backing up some pretty important stuff and want to make sure it's actually encrypted properly.

R Robert 1 week ago
They use encryption for backups, and you control where the data goes (your S3, Azure, etc.), not their servers directly. That was a big factor for me when choosing them.

From what I understand, they don't store your actual database data on their end, just the backup configurations and logs. The backups themselves are encrypted and stored in your cloud storage or on-prem. Seems pretty robust security-wise.

Are there ever any promo codes for the professional plan? Or is it mostly just the annual discount?

R Richard Flores 2 weeks ago
They do occasionally, especially around Black Friday or sometimes at the end of the year. I snagged a pretty good deal on a professional plan last Cyber Monday, so keep an eye out.

I think they focus more on the annual billing discount (20% off) and the free tier. Promo codes are rarer, but they pop up. You just enter them at checkout on their site, if you find one.

Thinking of switching from SQLBackupAndFTP to Sqlbak, anyone have experience with both? Is Sqlbak actually better or just different?

S Susan Smith 4 weeks ago
I used both for a while. Sqlbak's dashboard is way cleaner and easier to manage multiple servers from, especially if you have a mix of SQL, MySQL, and Postgre. SQLBackupAndFTP felt a bit clunky after a bit.

Yeah, the centralized management is a big plus for Sqlbak. And their point-in-time recovery is super reliable, saved my butt a few times. I think it's definitely an upgrade if you need to manage more than a couple of databases.
